Prince Charles Asleep During Tribute?

by Maricar on November 13th, 2006

Prince Charles has been busy with his travels to Pakistan and North East England lately. Maybe he was tired and coudn’t help dozing off. What do you think? Does Prince Charles look like he’s sleeping during this Armistice Day tribute?

Charles Asleep

Maybe he was and maybe he wasn’t. The Queen certainly seemed none too happy.

Thanks for the link - always good to actually see a photo of the incident in question. I’m not certain whether he’s asleep or maybe he’s just looking at a program in his hands, which has been cropped out. But it’s not unheard of for royalty to fall asleep at events. Early in her marriage, Diana fell asleep at an evening event, however this was blamed on her pregnancy with Prince William. People didn’t know that at the time, it was announced the next day. It wouldn’t surprise me if Charles was asleep though - having attended these events for the last 50 odd years, they’re probably not very exciting! No excuse but it might explain things.

Hi Marilyn, You’re welcome! The report said that Prince Charles, if he ever was asleep, roused himself after a few moments. It might have been just a second or two of nodding off, but the camera caught it. He’s human too. :)

[…] Prince Charles and Camilla were in their fair share of the news. They visited several places, including Pakistan. We saw quite a number of photos of them there, as well as a yak of a royal Gift. It was in Pakistan that Camilla made a controversial comment regarding British students. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall also visited North East England, including Rothbury. They attended a Gala to celebrate the work of The Prince’s Trust. During an Armistice Day Tribute, Prince Charles was caught on-camera looking asleep. Well, I’m not going to suggest that the Prince is getting on in years, but he did celebrate his 58th birthday this month. Finally, Prince Charles’ website got a nice update. We also got peeks at the residences of The Prince of Wales. […]

Being of the same age and not having such an active life style as he, I too nod off at the most unappropriate times. My only fear is I may snore a bit letting all know. I find the photo human and appreciate his devotion to crown and duties year round.
